My wedding is in less than three months and I knew I needed a quick, painless whitening fix. My fiance was at Sams Club and grabbed Crest Whitestrips Premium.

I don’t smoke, and I drink less than two cups of coffee a day, and usually one 20oz bottle of Gatorade a day. So, those are my teeth staining factors.

The package

It was so cute! I love small, convenient, easy open packages because of rheumatoid arthritis in my fingers. Well, this was it. It came in a square, bright blue plastic box. Just push the box up and it opens. On the left side is a pile of fourteen upper strips and then it is separated. On the right side is a pile of fourteen lower strips.

When you lift the top up, there is a mirror. So, Crest Whitestrips Premium travel very easily. If you commute to work, you can put it on while you’re in a train, or a bus. I wouldn’t recommend doing while you’re driving. Just had to add that in!

Applications

The first night was torture. The strips come in a small foil package, sort of like a band-aid. You tear the first strip open, and it reveals a very thin, clear plastic rectangle. The strip adheres to this plastic piece. The lower strips were harder to get off because they are smaller. You have to use your finger to sort of push the strip up and off. The problem is that is has the whitening sticky stuff on the bottom side, and if you touch it, it temporarily turns your finger white until you wash it off.

So, once you finally get the strip off of the plastic, you place the strip across your front teeth. You have to carefully place it that it covers your gumline and then wraps around over the top of your teeth and slightly around, and then press gently so it adheres. If it doesn’t reach at least up to the top of teeth and wraps around, it won’t stay on. So, if you have large lower teeth, you may need to use the upper strips for the bottom ones also, and therefore you will need two packs, which could get quite pricey.

How it felt

One word should sum it up- gross! On each strip is a layer of peroxide. The peroxide makes most people produce loads of saliva. So, in order to keep from drooling all over myself, I had to hold my mouth shut tight, which in turn caused severe jaw pain from my TMJ.

Try doing the above for thirty minutes straight. Not an easy task. I kept reminding myself that this is the price for beauty. Ahhh. Easier said than done.

When thirty minutes is UP

Or shall we say 28 and one half. I would run quickly to the bathroom, slide the ooey gooey mess of peroxide strips off my teeth, rinse my mouth with water, wash my hands and be thankful that another application was over and I was one step closer to whiter teeth.

What it claims to do

Crest Whitestrips Premium claims to whiten your teeth in seven days. You do two thirty minute applications per day.

You will notice a shade difference within three days and the whiteness lasts up to 12 whole months.

Is it true?

I did notice that my teeth appeared whiter and brighter by the second day. I’ll have to get back to you in 12 months to see how long it lasts.

If you aren’t satisfied with the whiteness, you can do another kit immediately after finishing the first kit.

Do I recommend this?

I say if you don’t have that many contributing teeth stain factors such as drinking lots and lots of coffee and Koolade, and smoking a pack of cigarettes a day, try it out. You’ve got nothing to lose but $30.

This is much simpler than having to take a trip to the dentist to get the expensive whitening procedures they do in the office. They will use peroxide also, the same ingredient used in Crest Whitestrips Premium. You only have to go through one hour of torture every day for a week. I say it’s worth it!
