I have always been a fan of the Bowflex for many years. I previously had owned a soloflex, but decided to get Bowflex a try. I was first introduced to a Bowflex by my friend Shawn 3 years ago. This machine looked so cool and it was given high ratings by all I talked to. My friend Shawn had a nice body and I was quite jealous of his washboard stomach. He was 18 years old and he said that I was too skinny and needed to work out. Well, I had more girlfriends than him but he had the stomach. So we worked together on the Bowflex and I was amazed with the results. I had purchased one and then re-sold it for the amount I paid because I needed money. In October of 2002, I had purchased another new one to get fit again. Here is what happened.
I had saw the advertisement on the commercial and said I want a Bowflex again. I had called them up and they said we can send you a video. I told them I do not want a video I want to purchase it. The sales clerk informed me I couldnt buy it without watching the video first. I told her then you are losing a sale and I want to talk to your supervisor because I have had one of these before. Well, after talking to them forever they told me I could purchase it. Since this product is so expensive, I guess they want you to be satisfied with your product. However, I think if you want to buy something and you have the money and they want the money, then sell the darn thing! Well, back to the story. I decided to get fully fit since my goal in life is to be on a Reality TV show. I had bought all the extensions with the Bowflex. The total cost of the Bowflex would cost me 1800.00 plus 150.00 shipping and handling plus all the interest. Their interest rate is at 24% and I didnt know they would finance me through their credit card. I didnt know they had a credit card so I was kind of mad to get another credit card. However, they did say I could get a refund if I wasnt completely satisfied after 30 days. (Reading the fine print: You are not refunded for the shipping and you have to ship it back on your own expense. That makes it 300.00 you lose, so that is why most people keep it)
Well, I will have to say this machine was shipped pretty fast. I had gotten it 2 days later. This machine came in 4 boxes and 3 of them were really heavy. I had to get my boyfriend and another friend to help me carry it in. I was not in the mood to put this thing together as it looked enormous. We decided to place this big boy in the dining room because I remembered my friend Shawn had one big room just for the Bowflex alone, and I didnt have an extra room for it.
Putting the machine together was a piece of cake. It only took about 2 hours, as the instructions were very straightforward. However, you must get a drill to do a certain part. I was very upset with this because I was hoping I didnt have to get any extra tools. I thought to myself since I paid this much for a work out machine how hard was it for them to drill a hole in the freaking bench where it was needed. Well, luckily I borrowed my Dads drill and got it in there. I just found that very annoying.
Like I said the installation part was very easy. However that was just for the basic Bowflex. (Now for all the extensions like the Lat-Pull, Pull-ups, and Leg-Curl). This was very complicated and confusing because you had to take things off to put things on. If you get any extensions read the extensions instructions first because there are different instructions for them. They set up examples like: Put together this way if you are going to just use the leg-extensions or if you are going to use all extensions. I had my boyfriend put all the extensions together. Recently we moved, and for some reason it was so easy to take apart and easy to pack. The basic Bowflex can actually be folded up, but you know I still havent figured out how to do it. After, we moved my boyfriend put the entire thing back together in less than an hour and we have one room dedicated to it. This thing takes up too much room, but we can enjoy the privacy of working out in our own room.
My payments were said to be at a minimum of 56.00 a month, which it was. The interest a month is at 35.00 a month and Im like woo hoo!!!!! Anyways, everything they said was true and there were no hidden fees or anything out of the ordinary. They also sent an instruction booklet, workout techniques in the form of a booklet, a video of how to use the machine, a poster, attachments, a picture of a cute guy with a nice bod we can work ourselves too. I often had a picture of Justin Timberlakes Rolling Stone cover of his shirtless self to help motivate me to work out.
Now no workout is a workout without a proper diet. Bowflex is more than happy to give you the information on what you need to eat and how to exercise. They have different categories on what you want to do. For example if you are looking to build muscle then they say do these workout techniques, or if you are looking to tone then do these. Bowflex claims that they if you just workout 3 times a week and 20 minutes a day you will get a better body in just 6 weeks. Yeah, a better body, but dont forget to eat right as well.
Bowflex sent me about 200lbs of resistance, which is really neat in the concept of how it works. There is no harder dumbbell workouts or anything. Everything is right there and easy to get to. I really dont like working out with someone watching me unless it is one friend or a hottie! This is what you are paying for: The comfort of an entire gym inside your house.
Now you might be asking if the Bowflex worked for me. Well, I will have to say yes, but I think it is more to what I eat, and the Bowflex helped in toning my body. In addition, there are over 100 workouts you can do for every muscle in your body, but I rather not list them all. Some of the basics are the AB crunches, Butterfly, Leg Curls, Bench Press, V-lift, and many more. I recommend this product to all, but beware of the price. You can get the basic Bowflex for just 999.99.
