I have been using my Bowflex for just over three months now and would like to address one issue I keep hearing and seeing. The machine is great for a home gym setup…it will make you sore if you use it correctly. As for the limited motion…I am 6′ 3″ and experienced the feeling. However, the truth is that requires you to really focus on proper form and the results are instant in that you feel it. As for the difference bewtween it and other machines and the gym… each rep and excersice requires proper form and time. Yes time…the Bowflex works great if you use the recommended time of 5 to 8 seconds for each rep. Seems really strange but go see a personal trainer and they will instruct you to do the same for maximum benefit. It’s not about jerking around 200 lbs of weight. Which has its own benefit as well. But the Bowflex employs a strategy that has acutally been around for many many years. As well that strategy applies to many diciplines in life, sports and other endeavors. Consider golf…you don’t just stand at the tee and blast away for the 300 yard drive…timing, form, concentration are all required to drive for show and put for dough! (Tiger Woods ring a bell?)
