Bowflex xtreme vs xtreme 2? okay, i want to get one of these, is the 5 excercises for the xtreme 2 worth the extra 500. i dont see much other difference, i think the on...

When I strained my back doing some little job around the house for what seemed like the thousandth time, I decided something had to be done to increase my body strength. I had already seen the DVD from Bowflex and decided on the Xtreme 2 because of the combination of no cable changeovers and the fact that it takes up a small amount of floor space.

The arrived (5 of them) and when I hauled them downstairs (with a hand truck) I realized why the shipping cost so much. This is no cheap home gym. This thing is substantial! The frame is a thick iron and there isn’t a flimsy component on the whole thing. wasn’t bad following the directions. Nearly every piece fit together like a glove. There were only a few that required a little moving around to align the holes. Everything was done in two evenings. Probably no more than 3 hours work.

I started out on their basic three days per week full body work out and haven’t seen any reason to change. It takes 25-30 minutes three days per week. The machine is nearly silent so I can exercise after the kids are in bed. I haven’t noticed a lot of weight loss but I can see that the fat around my waist is being exchanged for muscle around my shoulders and arms. I’ve finally seeing my body turning into the body I always wanted since I was a kid. Not a body builder but someone who can be proud of how he looks in a tight shirt. At 39, that’s more than a lot of my peers can say.

Resistance changeovers are quick and easy, with the exception of unhooking the leg attachment. That requires a little jiggling around but isn’t bad. If Bowflex wanted to improve one thing, it would be this connection mechanism. While I’m nit-picking, the cables also tend to twist occasionally. The fix is a quick twist of the pulleys to get things unbound. Again, not a big thing but more of an occasional, minor annoyance.

The conclusion? If you want a quick workout with quick results, get this machine. Easily the best machine I’ve used in anyone’s home.
