The Bowflex Ultimate XTLU has all the bells and whistles. It is a total body workout. Bowflex quality and a variety of exercises makes this a good, if expensive, solution to those love handles.

Bowflex the industry juggernaut producing millions of machines a year. You have undoubtedly seen numerous infomercials about their machines, they’ve been running for years. In fact, you probably know several people that have a Bowflex machine. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of Bowflex’s products but many people are so they are worth looking at if you’re in the market.
Bowflex is probably the most widely used home gym system available on the market. You see ads for them all over, especially on late night TV, and their telemarketers keep your phone ringing. With a “convenient” monthly payment plan and that ever present voice in the back of your head telling you to exercise more…how can you deny the sales pitch?
What sets each model is usually the number of exercises that can be performed, determined by equipment additions, and the amount of maximum resistance available. Other than that they are basically the same with only minor differences in quality and comfort.

Ultimate XTLU:
With a weight loss guarantee, just by buying it, who wouldn’t want an XTLU? Well, if you aren’t intending to use it don’t waste the money. Two grand can get you much more attractive home decor. The XTLU is a fully loaded piece of equipment. What’s cool is if you are not sure wether or not you want to try it, you can get a free DVD. Right now they are even giving away free machine matts to go with your order. The XTLU is fairly large, it wouldn’t fit well if at all in a room that has a bed or couch. Unless of course you have a very large house. It will most likely work best in a room just for working out, or in the basement. To get a good aerobic workout buy a jump rope or running shoes. The PowerRods work pretty well, but they don’t provide an even amount of resistance due to their curved attributes. It really is like using a bow. One plus, is that you can pretty much work every muscle in your body. What’s it have over the Ultimate? Well, 10 exercises or so because of the added lat tower and leg attachment. About the only thing you can upgrade to from here is simply - more weight. The XTLU is constructed very well, it will last a long time. Putting it together when it arrives at your house is another story. It will take you at least 3 hours to build. It is not very simple. Try and get a friend to help you.

Overall Impression:
The cost of the Ultimate XTLU is far too high at $1,999 or $66/month, but if you can afford it and want it really bad then this may be a good gym to have in your house. You’ll want to choose an aerobic activity because the rowing capability of any Bowflex isn’t that good. When you buy the XTLU you will feel your wallet become feather lite, but you will be on your way to attaining your fitness goals. You may want to check Ebay.com for a used one, it could save you a few hundred dollars.
Final Say:
Bowflex makes some good products. They aren’t nearly as good as the hype would suggest. I wouldn’t recommend it for those strapped for cash because you can do better with other pieces of equipment. It is great though, so for those with fat wallets - go for it! Like all the other Bowflex models the rowing function is lame so be sure to pick up a pair of shoes so you can get aerobics done that way. Bowflex is aiight, but Crossbow is better.
Thanks!
