I’m new to fitness and havent done any real physical activities in the last few years. I’ve never heard a bad review of any bowflex product so and when I saw the Sport model at Academy for $799 I decided why not. Assembly wasnt difficult but you do need some basic tools and it takes anywhere from 3-5 hours to assemble. If you had someone assisting you I’m sure this time could be trimmed down. Also, as mentioned in other reviews, this device has a large footprint. Even folded up it takes up a noticable chunk of my living room.

The machine itself is sturdy and all the pulley’s, hinges etc., seem to work with out any flaws. Just playing around wit it for 10 minutes leaves your muscles feeling sore.

Now for my only real complaint. As I said I am a novice to weight training and though the manual did show how to do 60+ exercises, it doesnt give any suggestions for a workout routine. Being new I was intimidated and really didnt have a clue where to start. The commericals and the manual talk about the 20 minutes a day, 3 day a week for six weeks challenge but dont give specific routines. As I said I’m very new to this and with no idea where to start I didnt touch it for almost a month out of fear of doing something wrong. I finally got a personal trainer friend to develop a routine for me and started last night. I hurt all over but in a good way. Now I wish bowflex would have just dropped in a very basic routine so I could have been lifting for a month now. Oh well

All in all this is a very impressive machine that leaves feeling like I’ve worked out for hours instead of just minutes. In six weeks I’ll post an update with final opinions.
