Reviews on Bowflex Motivator XT Girly power! Do you have it? I have owned mine for about 4 years now. I bought it thinking I'd use it when they first came out. I was wrong; I rather go to the gym then ...

I own a bowflex XTL with the maximum upgrade of 410 pounds, and let me tell you that the machine is very good, except that if you are looking to put some muscle mass on your legs, this machine might not help you there.

The bowflex is an excellent machine for your entire body as far as shaping and helping you loose weight. It is very easy to assemble and easy to operate. The free movement that the bars let you do will greatly help your coordination plus will give those little muscles an extra challenge while you’re lifting the weight, not locking you into a movement like other machines would.

I am a lean guy looking to put muscle mass and while the bowflex has helped me achieve this on my upper body, it has not helped me with my legs. Keep in mind that your legs are your biggest muscle group and therefore your strongest. Healthy legs are able to lift three times your own body weight and in order to make your legs grow big, you need to challenge them with about 4 to 5 times your body weight. The bowflex with its maximum of 410 pounds is just not heavy enough to accomplish this.

I would recommend the bowflex for its great design, space saving and quiet operation (I do workout many times while my wife is asleep! My only problem is trying not to breathe to hard!!) that is if you are looking to tone your body and loose some weight. However, I would not recommend it if you are looking to seriously bulk up and put on some serious weight. Again, because it will not challenge your legs enough to keep an even muscle growth in your body (unless you want to get into chicken-leg syndrome and look great from your waist up but ridiculous from your waist down!)

Like me, try to get a cheap membership at a local gym and show up just a day a week and give your legs a beating! (most gyms will work out a deal with you, letting you train just a day a week for about 15 to 20 bucks a month) in this way you can workout your upper body in the comfort of your home and just go to the gym one day and workout your legs only (No need to train your legs more than once a week if you train them well and challenge them enough in one session)

Be determined and go for it, the bowflex will help you get there.
