After pondering over the quantity of home gyms to buy, I finally settled on the Bowflex. I saw their ad on TV and went to their website www.bowflex.com, They have a great website with all the different makes and models of the bowflex. I called the 800 number and ordered the free video tape and information. It was all very informative, the information packet had some pretty good before and after pictures and it even showed how to do circuit training and the 60 different exercises that can be performed on the machine. It looked rather promising and I ordered the bowflex.

DELIVERY AND SET UP

When I called bowflex to order the machine, I ended up getting $200 of free add-ons for it because of the special they were having. I chose the leg attachment. The delivery price was rather high ($100). And it took the better part of 2 1/2 weeks to get here, and it took almost three hours of putting it together but it was worth it. The directions were very helpful with illustrations to go with every step of installation. You do need tools though, a wrench and a screw driver. Also, make sure you don’t forget to take something out of the delivery box because there were many separate pieces that could get lost. But after I put everything together I stood back to look at my work. The structure looked very well made and sturdy.

GETTING STARTED

You probably realize that the bowflex uses a different kind of resistance. Watching it on TV made it look to easy. But when I started my first set on bench presses, I had to reduce the weights in order to properly perform the exercises. Even though you may only have 50 pounds of weight on, the weight gets heavier when the Power Rods. So the weight may increase to maybe 70 pounds when the rods are almost completly bent. The book that comes with the machine is really helpful. They have diagrams of every exercise and the do’s and the don’ts of all of them.

OVER TIME

Bowflex will never grow old. With so many exercises that you are unable to do at the gym, you will continue to use the bowflex on a regular basis. The rods do become a bit bent but they don’t lose their strength. The bowflex really holds up.

FINAL VERDICT

The bowflex really did live up to my expectations. I did have a gym membership but I hold the bowflex higher than the gym. Because each arm has their own weight on the bowflex, they have to work by themselves. Many machines at the gym only have one bar for both hands so your strongest arm can take over for your weakest. I am very pleased with the bowflex and would recommend it over any other home gym on the market.
