I spent an enormous amount of time reading reviews on the bowflex and talking with friends and strangers, who own one, about their feelings on the machine. After many months I decided on the cheaper version of the bowflex(the one they don’t mention on the commercial)—the Motivator XTL. Now by cheaper I only mean like by a few hundred bucks, it’s still an expensive piece of machinery. I ordered it online on November 18, 2001 and received it Jan 7th, 2002….yeah, 8 weeks for delivery! I was alittle annoyed, and called them a few times to inquire on the status of my order, and they said that because of Sept 11th all orders were being delayed.

It comes in 4 different boxes, and was easy to set up. As long as you follow the directions, you should have no problem. It took me like an hour and a half by myself. If you have help, you could cut that time down.

I have for the last say 10 years had a gym membership, and always used free weights. I decided on this option simply because I work the graveyard shift and found myself exhausted after work and blowing the gym off. This seemed like a good solution to me.

The first time I used the bowflex, I loved it! I can’t say anything bad about it, other then what I said in the “con” section. It feels like real weight, and you get resistance throughout the full range of motion. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking to shed some fat, and lean up. As for bulking up…you might find that free weights work better. Though with the power rods, you get a great pump!!
