Bowflex Tips

i’ve been thinking about it for awhile(over a couple of years) and decided to take the plunge, since i have a little extra money to spend. i tried out my friend’s bowflex last night, and it really sealed the deal.
i just thought i’d get some other opinions on this…so, what do you think of bowflex? yay or nay?
We tried friends bowlex a few years ago and then saw an infomercial for the new Crossbow and we decided to order it. It was shipped soon and came in a huge 300lbs box. It took 3 of us about 4 hours to put together because of the gazilllion parts. So if the Bowflex is simila, be prepared. But, once we got it together and tried it out- I fell in love with it! You still have to switch from the different areas(leg press to preachers curl) but you can change the weight with the push of a button! I have found it to be a very effective work out. It only goes up to 380lbs -if you are into heavy lifting maybe not the best choice. It takes us a lot of room Put it together in the room you are keeping it because fully assembled, it woun't fit thorough any doorway. It was worth the money! Good Luck

Hey all ive found some low cost knockoffs of the Bowflex home gyms, I was wondering if anybody has an opinion on the issue, if anyone thinks its worth it for the real bowflex, anybody have any comments on the issue?
From the limited exposure that I've had to Bowflex infomercials, I can tell you that you probably won't see the type of amazing results THAT fast if you're like the average American. Despite the claim that it's a strength training machine, it's really more of a "cardiovascular machine" than anything else. At least, that's what most of us think at the gyms that I attend everyday. It all depends on what your goal is: if you want to lose fat, bowflex (and a lot of motivation) will do; if you want to gain size and considerable strength, bowflex isn't your best option. My suggestion to you might be to first try a membership at a gym and try out the different free weights and machines that they have there. Try that for a month and see if you can stick to it before dropping some Benjamins on a machine.

The only thing to make you taller is growth hormones. I know a girl who has taken them perscribed by her doctor. Her mother gives her a shot (I believe daily) and its definitely worked over time. There are charts that show height averages by age. A doctor probably would require you to be far from average for your age.

Looks like the Conquest has the squat package, with squat strap. See the little pulleys under the bench? That‘s them.

Looks like the Motivator has everything but that, if you look at the product info.

I have an elliptical trainer/stepper and am thinking about getting something different. I usually use free weights - would you recommend a Bowflex though?
It depends on what your looking for. Free weights are obviously the best but I have seen bow flex work for some people. The problem with bow flex is that it is resistance training which doesn’t work your muscles as well as weights do. It is much harder to get  cut  on a bowflex. For the most part I suggest using free weights as much as possible.

I was just wondering if anyone has used the bowflex and did you like it. Please let me know your results also. I’m also dieting with weight watchers and walking but I need to add something else.
I just recently bought a bowflex

and i have two opinions,

A: i feel it gives a great strengthining feeling that i do not get from free weights. I do not have much experience, but i can tell when its starting to work.

B: its SOOO DIFFICULT. I hate changing the freakin wires after everyworkout. I usually like to split, do legs then hands n then legs… but then it gets so hard handling those wires ahhhgrrr

I have a conditioning test for football on Tuesday, and I went to my uncle’s house today to see what I could lift on the Bowflex he has. Could somebody tell me the equivalent from Bowflex to free weight or visa versa?
its hard to determine because free weight requires diff stabalizers. it also depends on the type of excersise you were attempting.

Generally, freeweight is more difficult to handle because of the dynamic stabalizers and balancing involved.

I dont think there is a corolation between the two because they are too different.

My husband and I are planning to buy a Bowflex - should we get a Bowflex Sport Plus Home Gym that I can get for a good price used, or is it really worth it to spend the extra to get an Xtreme 2 home gym? $300 compared to $1200 price.
I would go with the Bowflex Sport. The Xtreme has a smaller footprint, but if you have the room for it, the Sport gives you more options for exercises. I know the Xtreme lists more, but there are many you can do on the Sport that are not listed in the manual.

I been thinking of buying a bowflex. Is it worth the money. Can you really get as strong as what they say. If you have one let me know what you think.
no i do not own one. but i have asked around and i have been told by many people that it is not worth it. you can get strong, sorta yes. but it will probably not get the results you want. i recommend free weights if you are looking to get strong. even the people in the commericals dont use the bowflex completly, i have been told they use free weights, which is recommended by almost everyone…hope that helps

My fiance and I are wanting to buy a Bowflex but we are wondering if it really works as well as it says that it does. I do not want to spend all that money on another thing that failed. So please i would like to know from people that i know are real and not paid actors….let me know what you think please. IS A BOWFLEX REALLY WORTH IT?
A Bowflex is only as good as what you put into it. You can’t buy one and expect it to get you in shape by just hanging your clothes on it. You will need to use it, and use it hard. Wimpy workouts won’t get you looking like the actors on the commercials. It‘s hard work.
