Bowflex Tips

ok i am considerign tradign soem guy my 2 PSP’s and a bucnha games for his bowflex

all togethur the stuff is worth about 250-300 bucks.

is the bowflex worth it for trying to get into shape?
right now all i have are dumbells and a crappy weight bench from sears that can only support 100lbs of weights.
Any piece of equipment is only as effective as using it.

IF you will use it as prescribed, then it is well worth it

i’ve been thinking about it for awhile(over a couple of years) and decided to take the plunge, since i have a little extra money to spend. i tried out my friend’s bowflex last night, and it really sealed the deal.
i just thought i’d get some other opinions on this…so, what do you think of bowflex? yay or nay?
We tried friends bowlex a few years ago and then saw an infomercial for the new Crossbow and we decided to order it. It was shipped soon and came in a huge 300lbs box. It took 3 of us about 4 hours to put together because of the gazilllion parts. So if the Bowflex is simila, be prepared. But, once we got it together and tried it out- I fell in love with it! You still have to switch from the different areas(leg press to preachers curl) but you can change the weight with the push of a button! I have found it to be a very effective work out. It only goes up to 380lbs -if you are into heavy lifting maybe not the best choice. It takes us a lot of room Put it together in the room you are keeping it because fully assembled, it woun't fit thorough any doorway. It was worth the money! Good Luck

I just bought a bowflex ultim 2.I’m not looking at bulking up.I’ve worked out before.Played football for many years.I’m looking at keeping in shape.Is bowflex really that good?Myself I live a very busy life so going to the gym was somewhat tough.I know people that have it and they love it.Anyone with a different view?Any advice?Also I was thinging about buying a bench with some dumbbells.Just to add some variety.Would that be a good idea?Thanks.
A bowflex will never make you  big can can definitely keep you toned.

The only thing to make you taller is growth hormones. I know a girl who has taken them perscribed by her doctor. Her mother gives her a shot (I believe daily) and its definitely worked over time. There are charts that show height averages by age. A doctor probably would require you to be far from average for your age.

Anybody here used a bowflex? How was it? Is it a pretty good machine, and is it better than regular weights? Please give me your thoughs and results if you’ve used it, because i’m thanking of saving some bread to get one. Thanks.
my brother had one n it was ok u have to be a person who would use it every day i mean stick to ur plan dont do it for a whole week then take a week off it doesnt work that way my brother said its ok though

I bought the Bowflex Ultimate 2 and am having a little difficulty assembling the $2,500 piece of garbage. Two part question:

1) Can I hire someone to put it together for me and if so where do I look for said individual? I tried looking in the yellow pages under Freelance Assembly Guys That Specialize In Putting Together Poorly Made Junk, but there was only one entry under this listing and the guy only spoke Chinese.

I was just wondering if anyone has used the bowflex and did you like it. Please let me know your results also. I’m also dieting with weight watchers and walking but I need to add something else.
I just recently bought a bowflex

and i have two opinions,

A: i feel it gives a great strengthining feeling that i do not get from free weights. I do not have much experience, but i can tell when its starting to work.

B: its SOOO DIFFICULT. I hate changing the freakin wires after everyworkout. I usually like to split, do legs then hands n then legs… but then it gets so hard handling those wires ahhhgrrr

Hello, I do not know whether to get a bowflex or (15-20 pound) dumbells. I am familiar with dumbells but not the bowflex. The bowflex says there’s 5kg of weight’ per elastic cord, what ever that means. I wish to build rather than tone, which one should I get?

The Bowflex uses  Power-Rods , which vary according to the tension weight of the rod. If you have a rod with 50lbs tension, then you are pulling, of course, 50lbs. The Bowflex can do several things, it can help tone your muscles with low impact workouts, or you can increase the weight for increase in muscle size, as in power building. The main thing is, it's low impact. It does not strain your muscles like free weights. It also allows you to do aerobic workouts, like rowing exercises. I like it. I especially like the lat tower options and leg workout options. I think it‘s a much more veratile system then just dumbells alone.

My husband and I are planning to buy a Bowflex - should we get a Bowflex Sport Plus Home Gym that I can get for a good price used, or is it really worth it to spend the extra to get an Xtreme 2 home gym? $300 compared to $1200 price.
I would go with the Bowflex Sport. The Xtreme has a smaller footprint, but if you have the room for it, the Sport gives you more options for exercises. I know the Xtreme lists more, but there are many you can do on the Sport that are not listed in the manual.

no i do not own one. but i have asked around and i have been told by many people that it is not worth it. you can get strong, sorta yes. but it will probably not get the results you want. i recommend free weights if you are looking to get strong. even the people in the commericals dont use the bowflex completly, i have been told they use free weights, which is recommended by almost everyone…hope that helps
